Obtain The Last-specified Point Autocad For Mac

Mar 06, 2013  The question is really about letting the user provide a point in X,Y coordinates (presumably relative to the current UCS) and have the code detect the Z value that is needed for the point to be on a given surface.

I am on a mission to convert my office to Mac. The biggest challenge is that we are an engineering company with more than half of our staff running AutoCAD. The Mac version of AutoCAD does not have Civil or Mining modules and we rely on a number of plugins that are from 3rd parties for permitting that will always require windows. So I have convinced the guys that Boot Camp, Windows 7 and VMWare Fusion will give them the flexibility they need to run OSX and Windows 7 in tandem. Now the question comes, what should be our notebook of choice? Currently we use Dell Precision M6500 Notebooks with Quadro FX 2800 Video Cards, a Core i5 or i7 with 4GB of ram running 32 bit windows.

I am tempted to think the new Airs with a Cinema display could be a replacement. They are apparently all faster than last year's Macbook Pro series but I may be making a big mistake.

Should I go with a Macbook Pro 13' or higher on this or are the Air's really fast enough? Thanks in advance for your feedback! The 15' MacBook Pro is the one you want. The graphics cards on the 13' MBP and MacBook Air will struggle with AutoCAD.

I'm currently using the 15' MBP with Windows 7 (BootCamp) and running AutoCAD 2012. This is a far better option than running AutoCAD for Mac as I, like you, have a requirement for 3rd party plug-ins. In addition to the plug-in requirements I also have the need for AutoCAD software that actually works! The AutoCAD for Mac is a half baked idea and really needs a lot of development.

I tried to use it for a while but switch to the BootCamp solution as soon as I discovered that AutoCAD for Mac has no function to export to DWF. But back to the point. 15' MacBook Pro minimum for smooth effortless performance. I had a brief similar discussion a few months back that you may find interesting. Let me know how you get on Bryan. Mac book air or mac book pro with autocad?

Hello everyone, i am trying to decide if i buy a Mac book AIR 13 inch or the mac book PRO 13 inch. I am an architech switching from office to MAC, and i am a light user of AUTOCAD. In AUTOCAD I only use 2d, i dont use any 3d or modeling or rendering in Autocad, i only use simple drawing features of autocad.

I dont want to buy a 15 ' because it is much heavier i am carry it around all day (i have a back problem) so i prefer lighter weight but i need it to run smoothly So my 2 choices i think are: 1) AIR: 13' 1.7ghz dual core intel i5, 4gb, intel hd graphics 3000, not sure if 128gb or 256gb hard disk 2) PRO: 13' 2.3 ghz, dual core intel i5, 4gb, intel hd graphics 3000, 320gb Thanks for you help!!
